Is the song "I'm A Woman" by Peggy Lee written in the style of '12-bar blues chord progression'?
I am trying to make an argument in favor of the song "I'm A Woman," written by Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller, is in fact a "blues" style of song. Under a Wikipedia listing for "blues" music, it states that '12-bar blues chord progression' is the most popular form of blues style of music. Does anyone know if "I'm A Woman" is written in this style of blues or would be able to provide me with more information to be able to argue my point for the song being written in this style? The wikipedia article also talks about chords being written with tonic, subdominant, and dominant chords, which I believe that the song does have. If it would help, please contact me and I can provide you via e-mail with a copy of the sheet music for this song. This is for a vocal competition that I'm singing in and the people running the contest claim that they cannot find the song listed anywhere to be a "blues" style of song. Please help if you can!! Thank you so much!
