How does a son gain his fathers respect?

Men with this problem sadly, NEVER learn or change their ways, you can try but I doubt things will get fixed, you need to be there for your siblings when they cry about how your father acts to them and you need to tell them that it is okay, and to keep in doing their best, and that their choices and how they do things make them who they are and they are perfect as themselves. As for you, your job is to feel sorry for your father, he has a problem and it comes off as a hard shell, you know that at this moment you are above him and don't need to listen to his mindless orders or yelling rants, but just be there for the siblings that do have to obey his crazy demands.
